Everything is New Again: Painting Reproduction and reinterpretation

what is it?

Color illustration painted in Photoshop inspired and based on painting from the Renaissance.

ideation

The goal was to repaint an original Renaissance painting with the most authentic results by using various types of brushes and paint technics.

I started this project with choosing the piece I wanted to reproduce. I build a canvas in Photoshop with a grid that helped me to sketch the shapes in appropriate scale and locations of the canvas.

In this project I understood how capable and efficient can be single brush. I learned how to approach and take apart such a complex painting. I learned how important is to sample colors as often as possible to achieve convincing effect.
